ray franz who gave us insight into the gb due to a crisis of conscience was an absolute moron, with absolutely no critical thinking skills whatsoever like all of us have.
i mean, to have a conscience based on some magic man in the sky.. how stupid can you be?
in search of christian freedom?

so, here i am again....asking more questions to help me understand my wife.
she was brought up in the cult in the 70's and 80's.
so i can only imagine what kind of indoctrination she deals with.
Umberto,
I call living, 'The Conveyor Belt of Death'
We just all have to get used to it.
I 'm more for feeding an olive tree or a saniovese vine with my bone broth...smile
[p.s. , i loved name of the rose]
Kaik,
There are similar places in Rome. Very interesting.
its not easy being an introvert in an extrovert worldespecially when youre a kid.
it is even more difficult if none of the adults in the kids life recognize that the child is an introvert.
this doesnt happen only when the childs parents are extroverts, but also with introverted parents who have never understood their own introverted nature.. .
Hey there Darth Frosty,
Just so you know , this topic helped me understand my self and other family members.
It took away so much guilt I had . Gave me understanding.
I will always be grateful.
Take care

I was raised around the time your wife was.
I never had that fear. I still wont watch demo movies. Cant seem to get rid of that old fear.
Funny, my 6th grade teacher had a real skeleton hung in the middle of our class room. we could dress him , even make a fake joint for him. lol.
Studied anatomy.
Also living in a surfing area, that is a common theme in hoodies and such.
A lot of 'Day of The Dead' crafts from Mexico here too. I like their tradition. It looks at death in a different manner.
But , when my mom would see my stuff or my kids. It did really upset and confused her.
She has lost many family members and it reminds her of death and I think mostly loss of loved ones.
Now I have put some of my art work away, as it reminds me of loss too.
I would love a skeleton hanging around to help relearn some things I have forgotten. Our structure is fascinating
back in the day, when the co came to the congregation, it was quite stressful for the elders and often, the rank and file.
.
is it as big a deal as it used to be?.
I posted to much info. so deleted some
I will just say they make the COBE sick with nerves.
They are pushing Sunday field service
They are most assuredly noticing the lack of Brothers reaching out
what were *your favorite *books in the organization?.
out of all of those books, i liked "mankind's search for god.
" however, it appears to me that this book is incredibly obscure and no one recalls studying it during the old book study format.
As a kid I loved the AID book. My non-JW friend had a set of Encyclopedia Britannica. I really wanted a set . Was a dictionary nerd too.
So the AID book was something that passed a lot time; something similar and approved.
I still have two copies for sentimental reasons.
As an adult, I never read any JW book through . I would get lost in my sort of ADD world. They were to hard to hard to follow and just made me feel worthless/unworthy. So I just went somewhere else.
Being made to study that horrid not/Paradise book just gave me bloody nightmares. But that's another topic.
i've been away from the boards so long that i had to create a new account but recent events have brought me back - i've missed this place!
anyway, i heard a former witness being interviewed the other day that said the witnesses were now being highly discouraged to read the bible by itself (without wt literature) on their own.
this seems over the top even for the witnesses.
'Independent' groups studying the Bible can lead to 'Independent' thinking.
Independent thinking is a crime too.
Even studying on your own, using their bible or another translation and say, a bible dictionary will raise suspicion.
we all know the wt basis for disfellowshipping, (1 corinthians 5:9-13) 9 12 for what do i have to do with judging those outside?
do you not judge those inside, 13 while god judges those outside?
remove the wicked [man] from among yourselves.. if removing "the man" is a protection for the congregation and no police are called, what does it say about the witnesses view of the world?
sort of a ramble here,
My thoughts many years ago:
but why go out in service, when the reason is to get some one to go to meetings. it is not and never will be a safe place.
Now this horrid man, Bowditch, must be going out in service. Right? He has the recklessness to say he isn't going to protect non jw's, unless he knows them personally. But he is not protecting anyone one in his hall either. But inviting people he meets at the door and maybe that silly cart thing, to come to a safe place of worship.
This is so crazy.
i have noticed when an elder or ms gets in serious trouble, many times it's simply a demotion.
local example.
well liked ms son of a prominent elder/pioneer gets caught doing the dance with no pants with his fiancee.
I've seen it go the way as described mostly.
But .. I new a family that had a young teen caught smoking along with many other kids. They came down harder on the one with the elder dad, because he should have been setting a 'fine example' to the other kids who did not have dads as elders.
Kids dad was removed. Their child got a public marking announcement . Nothing happened to the other ones.
as a very young child i have memories of several book burnings done by jw families.
it wasn't something arranged by the congregation, but elders did participate in it.
it was actually scary for me as a child of only about 8 years old.
I remember this as a kid too.
They didn't burn. Proof the demons were hiding in them.
Ever tried to burn a bond book?
haha
